A vibrant abstract teal glass art wave handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.
The freestanding minimalist wave was handmade from transparent teal and crystal clear artisan glass.
The colour of the teal glass is a vibrant blue based green - similar to that of peacock feather.
It is approximately 23 cm (L) x 6 cm (H) x 3 cm (D).
The textured nature of the clear glass adds additional visual (and tactile) interest.
It is a stand-alone piece of glass art suitable for display on any flat surface.
It looks particlarly stunning placed in front of a window or other direct light source, as the translucent nature of the wave allows light to shine through and reflect colour onto the surrounding surfaces.
It could be used in the evening as a table or shelf decoration with a tealight or small candle placed behind it.
A little more about THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: In order to create the wave, I first cut transparent teal artisan sheet glass (by hand) into the desired shape. (The glass was cut in a way to mimic the flow of water). I then placed the teal glass on a clear glass base and added crystal clear glass frit (crushed glass). After assembling the piece, it was placed in the kiln and subjected to a contour fuse. This allowed the individual pieces to fuse together but still retain some of their original shape and texture. The wave was then cold-worked and fused once more before being placed in another kiln on top of a ceramic mould and fired one final time in order to shape the piece into an s-curve.
PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
