A practical artisan dish handcrafted in the scenic Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.

The small dish was handmade from a blend of charcoal and light grey opalescent glass. It was a contrasting strip of transparent silver grey glass on one side.

The design is intended to be an abstract representation of the stone found in the iconic field walls throughout the South Lakes.

The dish is approximately 12.7 cm (L) x 7.5 cm (W), with a depth of about 1.5 cm (~ 5 x 3 x 0.6 inches).

Silicon 'feet' (bumper stops) have been added for extra grip and protection.

Although it was designed as a trinket dish, it could be used as a:
• decorative tray
• soap dish
• jewellery bowl or
• tea light tray.

***The dish will hold a standard size Dove soap. If you would prefer a larger soap dish in a similar design, please message me for details.

A little more about THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: The colour was achieved by fusing several layers of light grey artisan glass powder into a sheet of charcoal grey transparent glass. This glass was hand cut to size and placed on top of a piece of crystal clear sheet glass cut to the same size. A narrow strip of transparent silver grey glass was added to one side, to provide decorative interest. The prepared dish was then fired in the kiln over a 24 hour period. (***The glass was gradually heated up to just over 800 degrees Celsius, then cooled down very slowly to ensure that it annealed fully. This enabled the glass to strengthen and ensured its durability). The dish was then placed on top of a ceramic mould and fired in the kiln once more, in order to form the shape.

PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
