A contemporary silver grey glass art wave handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.

The ornamental wave (s-curved panel) was handmade from transparent silver grey and crystal clear artisan glass.

The design is an abstract representation of the sky, fells (hills) and lake.

It is approximately 23 cm (L) x 6 cm (H) x 3 cm (D).

The textured nature of the clear glass adds additional visual and tactile interest.

The freestanding wave is a stand-alone piece of glass art suitable for display on any flat surface, such as a bookshelf, mantlepiece or coffee table.

If placed in front of a window or other direct light source, the translucent nature of the wave allows light to shine through and reflect a subtle silver colour onto the surrounding surfaces.

It could be used in the evening as a contemporary table or shelf decoration with a tealight or small candle placed behind it (or on top of it when laid flat).

A little more about THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: In order to create the wave, I first cut silver grey artisan sheet glass (by hand) into the desired shapes. I then placed the coloured glass on a clear glass base and added crystal clear glass frit (crushed glass). After assembling the piece, it was placed in the kiln and subjected to a contour fuse. This allowed the individual pieces to fuse together but still retain some of their original shape and texture. The fused panel was then cold-worked before being fired once more in the kiln. Next, it was placed in the kiln on top of a ceramic mould and fired one final time, in order to shape the piece into a s-curve.

PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
