Small Teal Glass Art Wave, Handmade Fused Glass Ornament

An abstract teal glass art ornament handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.

The small freestanding minimalist wave was handmade from transparent teal and crystal clear artisan glass.

It is approximately 15 cm (L) x 6 cm (H) x 2.5 cm (D).

The textured nature of the clear glass adds additional visual and tactile interest.

It is a stand-alone piece of glass art suitable for display on any flat surface.

The wave looks particlarly stunning placed in front of a window or other direct light source, as the translucent nature of the wave allows light to shine through and reflect colour onto the surrounding surfaces.

It could be used in the evening as a table or shelf decoration with a tealight or small candle placed behind it.

A little more about THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: In order to create the wave, I first cut transparent teal artisan sheet glass (by hand) into the desired shape. (The glass was cut in a way to mimic the flow of water). I then placed the coloured glass on a clear glass base and added crystal clear glass frit (crushed glass). After assembling the piece, it was placed in the kiln and subjected to a contour fuse. This allowed the individual pieces to fuse together but still retain some of their original shape and texture. The wave was then cold-worked before being fired once more. It was then placed on top of a ceramic mould in another kiln and fired one final time in order to shape the piece into an s-curve.

PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
